| Konkani Nirantari
Welcome to the Record Breaking Event, in the
‘Guinness Book of World Records’. The following are the instructions,
which is read and understood by each participant of ‘Konakni Nirantari’
Konakni Nirantari – When and Where?
- The event will take place, starting
from 26 Jan.2008,at 6 a.m. and will conclude on 27 Jan.2008 at 10 p.m.
- The event will be staged at the
amphitheatre of Kalaangann, Makale, Shaktinagar, Mangalore.
How the performance is organized
- Each group will sing continuously for
one hour only, consisting of 15 songs approximately. Like wise, one
after the other 40 groups will sing continuously for 40 hours, and make
a new record in the books.
The following are the rules and
guidelines laid by the GWR
- Individuals who are below the age of
14 years are not eligible to perform.

Individuals who are between the age group
of 14 to 18 years will have to get a consent letter from their
parents/guardians (The consent lettr format will be provided).

Each group will perform only for one hour,
once they leave the stage, no member of the group is allowed to come
again. Since this is performance based event and not a competition, a
member of a parish can join another parish group (as their convenience),
but no individuals are allowed to take part in 2 or more groups.

An individual can perform only once.

The song selected should be minimum for a
duration of 3 and ½ (three and half) minutes. There is no upper time
limit for a song. Between two songs, the interval or pause should not be
more than 30 seconds. The prelude of a song only be played by orchestra,
and no interludes played in between the songs. The orchestra will be
provided.

Since this is multiple singing event, no
solos, duets, trios or quartets will be allowed. All the songs should be
sung by all the members of the group, But division of group (only gents
singing/only ladies singing or a mix of both) is allowed.

The words are legibly sung at a reasonable
standard. Therefore, no humming are allowed (Hmm or la……….la…….. or Haa….haaaa….).
But within the group if one division is singing sings the words, the
other division can hum.

There should be minimum of 30 people in a
group. The upper limit is not marked.

Singing could be with voices (with alto
tenor or bass) or without voices.
The responsibilities of a group
- It is necessary for you to choose a
‘co-ordinator’ and a ‘music-director’ amongst you. The duty of the co-ordinator
is to coordinate among the group members, regarding practices and
related matters. The music director will help you in practicing your
songs with appropriate pitch and rhythm.
- There are no restrictions over the
uniform costume. But keeping in mind the magnitude of the event, you may
select a uniform costume. As this event is telecast lively and covered
by media and TV personnel, it is necessary that you look appealing.
- It is necessary that you arrange at
least 8 practices, as per your convenience at your place, you can have
maximum number of practices, if you think it is necessary to bring out
the quality of singing.
- It is necessary that you send a
‘recorded audio cassette’ of songs, which u practice by 15th of
December, 2007, to Mandd Sobhann office (Kalaangann) for scrutiny.
- The scheduled time of your performance
will be decided by lots. You are requested to report 2 hours prior to
your scheduled time. The lots will be taken on Jan 6th 2008, at
Kalaangann, wherein, the co-ordinator and music director of your group
should be present without fail.
- If you require, you can request to
send one music master from our ‘Sangeet Salaha Samiti’. He will come and
help you out, and will make you sing better.
- There will be a rehearsal with the
orchestra at Kalaangann. Five of you (including co-ordinator and music
director) should make it to present yourself for this rehearsal. The
date will be announced on 6th January 2008.
- This is a strong request to all the
members of the groups, that at any given point of time, you are not
going to stop your singing inspite of all the difficulties like – power
failure, sicknesses etc. you are also requested not to consume
alchohalic drinks or things like jarda, paan etc.
